We kicked off 2018 with an awesome delivery:

  • Booked by Purebaby at 17:31 on Tuesday, January 2.
  • Picked up by a Passer (Melissa) from Chadstone at 18:13.
  • Delivered to Armadale at 18:28.

An excellent service for $15, and one that I don’t think I could replicate using traditional or casual courier companies.

In fact, the Casual Courier (they’re not “crowdsourced”) quote was $51 for 2 hours, and they have proven to be less than reliable.

This delivery highlights one of our key strengths, which is that we don’t have to worry about getting a driver to the pickup or what to do with the driver when they have finished. We take advantage of excess capacity when we need it, reward the Passer fairly, and then everyone moves on.

We’re working on an App. It’s not as easy as it sounds. The questions we have to answer include “do we need an app?” and “what should it do?”. The App will provide valuable data, enable us to better identify the least inconvenienced Passer and speed up our delivery times.

I also know it will increase Passer signups, and creates a feeling that Passel is more substantial.

What am I reading?

I’ve been reading a lot recently. It’s part of my job. My goal this year is a book a fortnight.

I was fortunate to catch up with Anthony Svirskis, CEO of Tribe before Christmas, who put me onto a great book
–  Platform Revolution. It’s a great book I can highly recommend.
